Frances Arp Forbus, age 52, of White, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Kennestone Hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Bartow County, born on October 7, 1964 in Cartersville to the late Frank and Barbara Arp. Frances was of the Baptist faith and made a decision to follow Christ at a young age. Frances was employed in Sales and Collections at Michael's Carpet in Calhoun, GA for the last 14 years, where she made many lifelong friendships.
Frances was a proud 1982 graduate of Cartersville High School and faithfully supported the Purple Hurricanes. She looked forward to watching or listening to the football games each week and always wearing the team colors of purple and gold. She was an avid follower of Nascar racing and Ryan Newman. Her love of country music was handed down from her daddy. She also enjoyed canning and preparing foods from the garden for her friends and family. She loved traveling to many locations with her husband whether it be planned or spur of the moment. Her favorites were St. George Island, FL and Tunica, MS.
Frances would tell you that her greatest accomplishment in life was her daughter, Christy. Her proudest moment ever was the day Christy became a Registered Nurse. She never failed to inform her recent healthcare providers that she had a R.N. daughter that understood what they were being told. The day Christy married Brad brought even more proud moments. He was the apple of Frances' eye. She loved him as her son and that love was returned many times over.
Frances is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Sammy; her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Brad Serpa; her 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Gail and Jerry Poole, Bonnie and Scotty Scott, Janice and Russell Grizzle, Mary Hardin and Rodney Blalock; Sammy's 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Tonya Hutchens, Kim and Tony Bouldin; a special niece, Valerie Hardin and numerous other nieces and nephews; the father of her daughter, Wayne Phillips; her 3 best friends, Sharon McAllister, John Martin and Barbie Waters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with the Reverend Tim Thompson officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
